Thomas Gouws

Thomas Gouws, a South African-born abstract artist, graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Pretoria in 1996. He began his career in architecture and founded his own practice in 2002. His wife, Sureen, an interior architect, later joined the practice, and together they collaborated on several award-winning projects.

In 2018, Thomas and Sureen moved to Australia with their two young daughters, initially settling on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula before relocating to Brisbane. Throughout his career, Thomas has nurtured a lifelong passion for art, exploring painting and sculpture alongside his architectural work. He decided to take a hiatus from architecture upon arrival in Australia to focus entirely on his art, creating works that blend architectural influences with abstract expression.

Although Thomas has recently resumed his architectural practice, he remains dedicated to his artistic journey, drawing inspiration from the intersection of both fields.
